Three players found themselves the subject of scrutiny by the KHL Disciplinary Committee, following breaches of the rules during Tuesday’s games in the Championship, and two of the offenders have received bans.

A major plus game misconduct penalty (5+20 minutes), a fine, and the maximum ban of five games has been imposed on Kunlun Red Star defenseman Janne Jalasvaara for abusive behavior toward match officials. The incident occurred midway through the second period of the Beijing team’s match in Togliatti against Lada.

The Committee also imposed a major plus game misconduct penalty (5+20 minutes), a fine, and a one-game ban on Salavat Yulaev defenseman Maxim Goncharov, for tripping and injuring an opponent in the third period of the match against Ugra in Ufa.

Finally, the Committee studied the incident which led to HC Sochi forward Andrei Kostitsyn receiving a major plus game misconduct penalty (5+20 minutes) for checking to the head and neck area during the home match against Metallurg Novokuznetsk. After the Committee upheld the referee’s decision, Kostitsyn has been fined but has escaped a suspension.
