Following a request from the Refereeing Department, the KHL Disciplinary Committee has investigated two episodes from Thursday’s match in Moscow between Spartak and Medvescak Zagreb. In the 17th minute, Medvescak defenseman Shaone Morrisonn received a major plus game misconduct penalty (5+20 minutes) for tripping. Ten minutes later, the same punishment was handed to Spartak defenseman Dmitry Kalinin for slashing.
The Committee upheld the referee’s decision in each instance, and both players have been fined. However, as this was Morrisonn’s second 20-minute penalty of the current season, he incurs an automatic one-game suspension.
