Following a request from the Refereeing Department, the KHL Disciplinary Committee has investigated an incident from the 23rd minute of Thursday’s match in Nizhnekamsk between Neftekhimik and CSKA, in which visiting defenseman Grigory Panin was sent to the locker room following a hit on home forward Konstantin Makarov.

After reviewing the available evidence, the Committee upheld the referee’s decision to punish the foul with a major plus game misconduct penalty (5+20 minutes) for causing injury by checking to the head and neck area, and as a result, Panin receives a fine and a three-game suspension.

As this was the second time this season that player had earned a 20-minute penalty, he also incurs an automatic one-match suspension for repeat offending. Grigory Panin is therefore banned for four games.
