No fewer than four players were sent back to the locker room in separate incidents during a highly combative Game 4 of the Western Conference playoff series between Torpedo and Jokerit on Saturday. The KHL Disciplinary Committee studied the episodes in question, and in each case upheld the officials’ decision to punish the offending player with a major plus game misconduct penalty (5+20 minutes).

In case of Jokerit’s Topi Jaakola, sent off for slashing at the end of the second period, it was not his first serious foul of the season. The 32-year-old defenseman had previously picked up a 20-minute penalty for kneeing an opponent in a game against Dinamo Riga in late October. As a result, Topi Jaakola incurs an automatic one-game suspension.
