In response to a request from the Refereeing Department, the KHL Disciplinary Committee has investigated an incident from Saturday’s Western Conference final series Game 3 in Moscow between CSKA and SKA. The episode in question concerned the 51st-minute collision between home forward Geoff Platt and Petersburg forward Vadim Shipachyov. Video evidence shows Platt intentionally striking the head of Shipachyov after the latter had fallen to the ice.

Owing to the serious nature of the offense, the Committee had imposed on Geoff Platt a major plus game misconduct penalty (5+20 minutes) for checking to the head or neck area, and has suspended the player for four games.
