To mark the end of the third round of the playoff stage of the Championship – the Conference finals - the Kontinental Hockey League has named the best players of the round in four categories.
– Best goaltender was Igor Shestyorkin (SKA), who helped his team to victory in three of the four games against Lokomotiv. The 21-year-old netminder allowed just a solitary goal, achieving the highest save percentage (98.51) and lowest goals against average of (0.55) of any goalie in the round;
– Best defenseman was Patrik Hersley (SKA), who featured in all four matches against Lokomotiv, firing off 15 shots at goal and ending the series with 4 (2+2) points and an efficiency rating of +4. The 30-year-old Swede scored a double in Game 1, including the crucial game-winner in overtime;
– Best forward was Sergei Mozyakin (Metallurg Magnitogorsk), who appeared in four out of four outings against Ak Bars, finishing the series with 7 (3+4) points and a +5. Like Hersley in the West, the Magnitka marksman struck the all-important overtime winner to seal victory in Game 1, and his goal in Game 4 was his 54th of the current season, breaking the previous record for national championships set by CSKA legend Veniamin Alexandrov back in the 1962/63 season;
– Best rookie was 21-year-old Ak Bars forward Maxim Lazarev, who enjoyed three outings during the series against Magnitogorsk, recording three hits, no negative ratings and an average of 5 minutes and 56 seconds on the ice.
