Red Star Kunlun head coach Mike Keenan served the one-match ban he picked up at Severstal, for unsporting behaviour toward a match official, by sitting out the defeat at Spartak, and two of the League's players were also given unwanted rest days over the weekend.
On Friday, the KHL Disciplinary Committee upheld the major plus game misconduct penalty (5+20 minutes) given to Avangard defenseman Alexander Osipov for boarding in the match against SKA Saint Petersburg. For this he received a fine and a one-game suspension. This was the player's second 20-minute penalty of the season, following his dismissal for checking to the head and neck area at Vityaz in early September, and as a result, he incurs an automatic one-game suspension for repeat offending.
Alexander Osipov was therefore handed a two-game ban.
On Sunday, the Committee responded to a request from the Refereeing Department and investigated the incident which occurred at the end of the match in Magnitogorsk between Metallurg and Salavat Yulaev, in which Ufa forward Evgeny Korotkov received a game misconduct penalty (20 minutes) for unsporting behaviour toward a match official. After reviewing the episode, the Committee upheld the referee's decision, and Evgeny Korotkov was handed a fine and disqualified for one game.
