To mark the end of the fifteenth week’s play of the tenth season of the Championship, the Kontinental Hockey League has named the best players of the week in four categories.
– Best goaltender was Lars Johansson (CSKA), who played in two road matches and kept the opposition off the scoreboard in both. The 30-year-old Swede's shutout series now stretches to 153 minutes 53 seconds.
– Best defenseman was Mikhail Grigoryev (Torpedo), who enjoyed three outings and helped his team win all of them, scoring three goals (the best haul of any defenseman in the League last week), two of which – against Slovan and Jokerit – were game-winners. The 26-year-old Russian D-man also recorded 9 shots at goal, 4 hits, and a positive rating for each game, earning a +5 for the week;
– Best forward was Dmitry Kagarlitsky (Severstal), who made three appearances, and whose haul of 5 (3+2) points – the highest total of any forward over the past seven days - helped the Cherepovets team claim two victories. The 28-year-old Russian winger struck 14 shots, scored a double against Slovan, and did not receive a single negative rating on his way to meriting a +2 for the week;
– Best rookie, for the second time this season, was Dynamo Moscow forward Alexander Petunin, who was given three outings on the road and celebrated victory in two of them, averaging 13 minutes 41 seconds of ice time, firing off 8 shots at goal, and scoring a goal in the match at Neftekhimik. The 20-year-old, who was also November's Rookie of the Month, received no negative ratings and earned a +2 for the week.
